There is much for us to be proud of both as a council and as a borough: High levels of resident satisfaction, the quality of our services, and most importantly, the enthusiastic and motivated staff that we employ. And we’re ambitious to deliver more.

An introduction from Guy van Dichele, Strategic Director – People’s Services

As someone committed to social care, you’ll know that everyone with care and support needs has the right to feel safe and to receive care that’s centred on their individual needs. Here, in the London Borough of Sutton, we believe that people are the experts in their own care but there will be times in people’s lives when they need some additional support. We are currently looking for people to join our team who can help us deliver on our Corporate Plan, ‘Ambitious for Sutton’, and support people to access the range of adult social care services in the borough.

Social care, along with health services, are evolving, changing and transforming rapidly.  We’re continuing to build an outstanding adult social care workforce in Sutton with the right values and behaviours to work creatively within our culturally rich and diverse borough, as well as constructively and creatively with our partner organisations.

We are passionate that our staff are our greatest asset and we are proud of the opportunities we have to recruit, develop and retain highly skilled and committed individuals.

We are building capacity across our adult social care services in Sutton to ensure we provide the best we can to residents.  Services must be robust and resilient both to government reforms and increased demands on our resources.  As a team, we are developing a culture where we can all thrive, where we celebrate what’s good and where we continuously improve.  We want to increase Sutton’s reputation as a great place to work and where, as a member of the team, you feel you have achieved and made a difference each and every day.

We want to keep developing our excellent, resilient and committed team, where people are at the heart of everything we do.  We hope you want to be a part of that here in Sutton too.

Andrea Green, New Head of Service at Learning Disabilities

"Having worked in my previous authority for 28 years in a variety of roles, I was ready for a change.  However the thought of moving to a new role and new working environment is always a challenging experience.

Throughout every step of the recruitment journey, from submitting my application, to the communication with the resourcing team, London Borough of Sutton helped to remove any hesitations that I initially had.

The interview process was diverse, concise and I was given the right information to get a better understanding of the Council objectives, the plan for Adult Social Care and how I would fit into making a difference to the residents of Sutton.

The induction from the people systems team was enjoyable and comprehensive, not to mention I received a Starbucks gift card as a nice welcome treat!

All of this means I am confident that I had made the right decision and I am looking forward to working with our staff to ensure adults with a learning disability can live their best and most independent life
